Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Brent

Man with Van Brent is committed to conducting all aspects of our operations in a responsible, ethical and transparent manner. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation within our own activities and our supply chains. We recognise that even small and medium sized businesses must play a firm role in identifying and addressing these risks.

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to everyone working for or with Man with Van Brent, including employees, agency staff, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in, or turns a blind eye to, exploitation or abusive labour practices.

All commercial decisions are taken with this stance in mind. If we discover evidence of modern slavery or related abuses in any part of our operations or supply chain, we will act promptly to investigate, address and, where appropriate, terminate relationships. We also expect anyone who represents Man with Van Brent to uphold our values and comply with all relevant legislation.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Brent provides transport and removal services to domestic and commercial customers. Our key areas of risk relate to the use of temporary labour, subcontracted drivers, vehicle hire companies, packaging materials and other logistics-related services. We acknowledge that these sectors may, in some circumstances, be vulnerable to exploitation if not properly monitored.

To manage these risks, we seek to develop long-term relationships with reputable suppliers and contractors who can demonstrate robust employment practices. We are committed to working collaboratively with our partners to raise standards and promote continuous improvement.

Supplier Due Diligence and Audits

We apply due diligence procedures when selecting and reviewing suppliers and subcontractors. Our expectations are communicated clearly at the outset of each relationship. We require suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable laws on employment, working hours, pay and conditions, and that they do not use forced, bonded or involuntary labour.

Where proportionate to the size and risk profile of the supplier, we may conduct audits or request supporting documentation to verify compliance. These checks may include reviewing policies, worker contracts, pay records and right to work information, as well as discussing recruitment practices and grievance channels. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier on corrective actions within a defined timeframe, or, if necessary, reconsider the relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We actively encourage the reporting of any concerns relating to modern slavery, human trafficking or unethical labour practices, whether within our business or our supply chain. Workers, suppliers, customers and other third parties are urged to speak up if they see or suspect any form of exploitation or abuse connected to Man with Van Brent.

Concerns can be raised verbally or in writing to management or through existing internal reporting routes. Reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly and, where possible, handled in a confidential and sensitive manner. We do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Training, Awareness and Responsibility

Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management at Man with Van Brent. They are tasked with ensuring that this statement is implemented, communicated and embedded across the business.

We provide guidance and awareness raising for staff involved in recruitment, supplier management and operational decision-making so that they can recognise signs of modern slavery and know how to respond. We also promote a culture of openness, respect and fairness that supports the early identification of potential issues.

Monitoring and Annual Review

We are committed to continually reviewing and improving our efforts to identify and address modern slavery risks. This statement and the measures described within it are reviewed at least once every year, or more frequently if there are significant changes in our operations, legal requirements or risk profile.

As part of our annual review, we consider feedback from staff, suppliers and other stakeholders, assess the effectiveness of our due diligence and audits, and update our processes where improvements are needed. By taking a proactive and evolving approach, Man with Van Brent aims to contribute to the wider goal of eradicating modern slavery in all its forms.
